WE Hub: Madison Kick-Off Event WE Hub: Madison Kick-Off Event
M3 Insurance, Madison WI

We are excited to announce the launch of South Central Wisconsin’s (Madison) WE Hub. The FIRST event is on May 14, 2019 and WE WANT YOU THERE! The launch event will be happening at M3 Insurance. We’d welcome anyone to attend who may be interested in the changes going on in the workplace environment and strategies that influence the direction those changes take. We hope you can join us.

We will be providing more information on WE Hub and how you can get involved. We also have the North American WE Hub Leader, Eric Johnson, speaking on how you can make mobility work for you. He will talk about how mobility factors into an organization’s real estate or workplace strategy within the context of increasingly collaborative work processes, an emphasis on positive workplace experiences, and new definitions of engagement and productivity. It all starts with creating your own definition of what mobility is – aka flexibility, agility, and a host of other terms – means that is aligned with the organization’s critical business goals, work processes, and culture.

Speaker Biography:

Eric’s focus is effectively integrating the breadth of workplace components – combining design, talent, operations, and technology – to creatively and optimally support new ways of working, changing work practices, and an increasingly diverse workforce.

Eric joined the Allsteel Workplace Advisory team in 2013, bringing a unique depth and scope of experience from his 35 years as an architect, workplace strategist, and operations leader. He most recently was a Senior Manager of Workplace Strategy at Deloitte, where he led the team that defined the mobility components of the firm’s workplace strategy, and managed their US hoteling program, including developing and implementing protocols, change and communications, and new technology. Prior to joining Deloitte, Eric provided strategic workplace and design consulting for clients including P&G, HP, Bell South (now ATT), Microsoft, Fidelity Investments, and AARP.

He is an active member of CoreNet Global, the International Facility Management Association, and Workplace Evolutionaries. He is also a member of Drexel University’s Interior Design Advisory Council.

At Allsteel, Eric supports both Allsteel and client projects. He provided strategic guidance for the adaptive workplace implemented as part of the redesign of Allsteel’s headquarters. And he is working with a range of technology, financial services, energy, and government clients.

Eric received an MA in Organizational Development from Marymount University and a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia. Outside work, Eric’s creative outlets are attending theater and music events and creating small art pieces using found objects.

The Fundamentals of Workplace Strategy: How the Workplace Can Keep Pace with the Business

Description:

What is Workplace Strategy and why is it important to the future of every business?

Workplace Strategy is an emerging profession and plays an ever-increasing role in helping CRE move from cost control to value creation. Our first WE 2019 program is for those seeking to understand this new field, as well as those already practicing or working with practitioners.

Jan Johnson, FIIDA, MCR.s, VP Design and Workplace Resources at Allsteel, will lay out the foundational principles of workplace strategy, and make the case for expanding Workplace Strategy’s scope into other areas of knowledge, processes and tools, using client examples and stories.

This session is the first of a series with WE Hub New England to educate our audience on how do – and should – strategists think.

About Jan Johnson:

Jan has spent her career strengthening the correlations between business strategies and the planning, design and management of workplaces; and is a highly respected workplace strategist who frequently writes, speaks and teaches. She has contributed to this emerging profession through important works in the field’s body of knowledge and by shaping and teaching the field’s professional competencies.

April WE:binar - Innovation is a problem of Flow not a lack of Ideas

Date: Thursday, April 18, 2019
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Hosted by  Megan Campbell and Emily Dunn

Innovation is a problem of Flow and not a lack of Ideas

Description:

The world is changing faster than ever — there was a time when corporations had to be convinced that innovation is important. Today, every corporation has some form of innovation, either outsourced or in-house. Why then do organizations still feel that they are not innovative enough? What’s the problem?

The key takeaway from the presentation is that Innovation failure is not a result of a lack of ideas or effort, but a lack of understanding of how ideas flow in large systems. In this talk, the speaker will share a few broad insights to consider if you are responsible for understanding innovation flow at your organization.
